More Butterflies

We are still waiting to receive our caterpillars. Hopefully, we will get them by Tuesday. When the butterflies do arrive we will spend time watching the caterpillars go through their life cycles. For the next two weeks we will have a mixed theme. We will do one more week on butterflies and then transition into a new theme, Spring. We will talk about the season, the weather, rain, flowers, etc. Here are our plans for this week.

Monday:
The students will use watercolors and coffee filters to create their own butterflies. The students and I will discuss whether or not butterflies have any natural enemies. We will also make a shape butterfly. The afternoon class will have a language lesson with Jacki Navarro.

Tuesday:
We will talk about ways that butterflies defend themselves. We will also paint caterpillars and butterflies. We will work on the numbers 0 and 1.

Wednesday:
We will make hand print butterflies. We will talk about the butterfly life cycle again, this time focusing on the Monarch butterfly. The morning class will have a language lesson with Jacki Navarro.

Thursday:
The students will create butterfly magnets. We will work on some patterning and we will play a matching game.

Friday:
We will make butterfly sun catchers. We will also do some sequencing work. Both morning and afternoon classes have gym.
